I tested my domain recently, and for the life of me i can't remember the site now. But it showed the number of links to your site from .org and .gov domains. Are links from .org and .gov more important than any other?
I seriously doubt links from .gov or .org domains weigh more per se. People've been arguing .edu links are more important, but Matt Cutts has confirmed otherwise. So I think it's same thing here. However, while .gov, .edu, or .org links probably do not weight more all by themselves, there still might be a benefit: Such domains are usually pretty old, so they are more authoritative than the site of an average Joe who's been around for the whole three months. I think it's the age of these domains that really matters. Hope this helps, Warkot PS: Anyway, digitome, you got nothing to lose. You got some good links pointing to your site, so what's your worry?
.gov and .edu domains are probably have more of an effect as these domains tend to be 'trusted' by google because of the quality of their content and links. They don't help you any more than a 'trusted' .com link though.
