Not at all. SEO is unrelated to the domain extension, its more of a user thing. com is easier to remember and more recognizable than an org.
.org are really liked by google. im sure it gets about the same if not more love. so don't worry about that.
Awesome! The domain I wanted was only available for .org, so I suppose this is what I'm going to go with - thanks all!
Gasmoney, the TLD used by the Web developer has no bearing whatsoever on search engine ranking. No search engine is going to treat one TLD better than another one just because it's different. I don't care if it's a .com, .net, .org, .edu, .gov or even .MyDogLarry (that last one's a joke, obviously). They all get treated the same. Equal opportunity and all.
I too agree with it. But what the users prefer is a good content, they do not worry about TLD's. Even the same case with search engines...
I may want to disagree, but this is more a question than a claim: Won't a searcher from UK find more .co.uk sites in his Google search than a searcher from US?
In a localized search like that then yes. But otherwise, no, not at all. (And for the record, my post that you referred to boron was for global searches, not local ones.) I now return myself to the Bears-Seahawks game, currently in progress. (Update, the Bears lost 23-30.)
I would say domain name it irrelevant from seo point of view. Only when you are promoting your site by word of mouth com is better then org since it sticks. If you are in uk co.uk is good as is com. Just the habbits people have.
