What's your opinion about opening an online store on a domain dot org.?

I have a nice org domain with good search engine rank which have not much use and I'm thinking about opening an online store under this domain.

For ex: let's say the domain name digitalcamera.org

    thanks:)

People usually associate .orgs with organizations but if you have a really nice domain name in that extension, maybe you can start your online store in a .com and redirect your traffic from the .org to the .com.

It's perfectly fine. The only time .com /.net /.org makes real difference is when you do print (i.e. paper), radio, or TV advertising. People tend to remember the domain, but not necessarily the extension and will usually by default type in .com.

In all other cases, users will probably be coming to your website via external links or search, implying that the extension will be of secondary importance. This is especially the case for .ORG. For .net, there may be a tendency for some of your visitors to check out the .com version out of curiosity; but not so much for .org. Just a thought. Good luck!
