No, I have one ORG domain, the rest are COM and NET, and definetly your statement isn't correct.

The domain extension doesn't have any effect, positive or negative on the SERPs and Google PR.

    .org has no preference
.edu has no preference but the pages that are hosted on .edu domains are often of high quality and because of this attract high quality links. It is this that gets .edu domain names good search engine rankings, not the domain extention itself.

Why would .org get any preference when it's open for anyone to register one for their crappy site? I can at least see the reasoning for people believing .edu or .gov having a preference since those domains are not open to the public.

I have a .ORG and there is nothing speicial about it. I think .ORg is second rate to .COM If there is any preference its .COM

However, there are a lot more quality .orgs still available versus .coms. That's about the only real advantage ;)

    I agree.

I would like to add .org usually don't link to other sites because they are non-profit websites. The lower the outbound links the more chances to get indexed by google and rank in SERP.
