.ORG domain becomes expensive in Godaddy

I was about to register a .org domain in Godaddy today but I was surprised at its new pricing rate. A .org domain now costs you $14. So, I turn to Namecheap.com and register there .org domain instead at $8 only using the coupon code happy2009, which will end in January 2009. I got that coupon from retailmenot.com.

Any explanation why Godaddy makes .org expensive these days?

I guess their domain sales drop in the recession but they want to earn as much as in last year .
Raising the price is one possible way .

360.org was the domain name that was sold for $25,000.

Godaddy's original prices are always expensive, but you can use coupons to lower the prices below anyone else's. I just registered a dot org for $7.49

$7.49 .NET, .ORG, .BIZ domains, new registrations only
    Coupon Code: cjcdeal749
    Expires: 1/31/09

i saw this a while ago on godaddy, kinda sucks they are charging so much for .orgs.

Most people only think about the godaddy girls and dont pay any attention to the price that they are paying.

    Sad but true.

Godaddy has always charged more for .org's but if you find a coupon you can get it cheaper.

the target for high priced domains are domain newbies, otherwise everyone knows that they could have a .org at a cheaper price by using a coupon
