If you were to register a domain name that's not taken and you have the choice of a .org and .info, which would you register and why is what I am asking.
I would take a dot org any day over a dot info. The difference in price quoted is miniscule. The three most popular in the states are dot com, dot net, and dot org.
I would say it depends on the site you're going to launch. If it will be an informative site, then .info would be better in my opinion.
.org and .info can't really have a fair comparison .org is there for year, many sites lent their credibility to the TLD .info is new, started just few years back. Their marketing plan for cheap new registrations attracted many people that used it for short term purposes and this maybe make the TLD look cheap to the eyes of some users However i like .info and i think it has potentiality in the long run Just for now my first reply to your question is buy them both but if i had to choose i would say .org
I don't think he asked for a registrar and i said to you in another topic you're getting the .info double of their normal price. Don't post to all the topics "I use hostway" if they are not related with the topic subject As for the URL wait to have enough posts to make your own sig, don't post your URL as part of the post
I like the .info extension because it stands for information. But I would pick .org if people are going to remember it. For the SE`s it does not matter what you use.
It used to be that .org stood for nonprofits (like mine). Nowadays that distinction seems to have virtually disappeared. I would recommend the .org since, as others have said or implied, it seems to carry a sense of credibility. Some might dispute that, but I think it is generally true.
i would register both for me, .org is better, because its shorter... For a project — .org is better, for the info about project — .info is better
oh.great . where can i reg .org only $0.99 i am very interested it. now i reged about 1000 domain at namecheap .$7.89/each thanks
.org is better well at least I think so however I would still prefer spending a little extra and buying a .com
