I was always interested to see how the duoprocessors stacked up..I bought mine in Aug., just before they started to offer them

 

Could you tell me how your laptop performs.

I am trying to find out if intel has core dual processor different for desktops and different for laptops (centrino family). On intel site, from both laptop and desktop sections it points to one single core dual processors

 

I bought 2 of them myself...One beefed up almost fully loaded, and another slightly above base.

can't wait to get them in to play with them!

wow laptops.... I wanted one at first, but I wouldn't use it too much, as I use my PC only at home. I wouldn't have time to carry it with me and use it elsewhere.

once you have a good laptop you wont barely ever use your desktop..
I can't remember the last time I've used any of my desktops..I hate sitting at a desk, when I can take one of the laptops anywhere on my property be it in the house or the yard and work, chat or whatever..

 

I need to get a laptop. I am thinking about getting a sony so in the summer i can work in the garden

 

Sony is good, but their laptop are way overprice... i wouldn't waste my money on sony laptop

My notebooks are set to arrive today, I can't wait for them to come in! Can throw this current one off to the side and play with something a bit more powerful!

 

I agree notebooks make life easier, but nothing beats performance of a good desktop.

I recentely bought a IBM x100 Server PIV 3.0 Ghz, 2 MB L2, HT (850FSB), Raid 160 GB hard drive (10k RPM), 2 GB DDR2 533 FSB RAM (8GB upgrade supported), DVD RW, Intel® E7230 Chipset. This machine is a real horse, It costed me $1150 without monitor.

I purchased one 19 inch TFT for $400, so close to $1500 in all, but no laptop on this planet can beat the perforance.

 

I'm sure there are a few laptops that will come close and possibly beat that desktop..

Desktops have their place, great for file servers, easily upgraded and much cheaper but that's about it IMO..

A good solid notebook is just as quick as a good desktop, the notebook just costs more.

 

I haven't seen any laptop with this configuration, even if it exists, i am sure it would cost close to 4 times from the counterpart desktop.

But somehow I never felt comfortable using laptops, maybe i never tried a good one.

And yes, you are right about upgrading desktop, you can upgrde it anytime yourself and the upgrades are cheaper as well.
