Nice catch! I can't believe I missed it when registering 120 3D-related domain names 3 days ago As for the appraisal, probably somewhere in the vicinity of mid-$xx at the moment but much, much, much more in the near future.
Seems like i'll wait then, 3D domain prices will probably boom when 3D consumer products begin seeping in the market.
Reg fee - if that. Had you just regged 3dtv.com, it may get offers in the high xx maybe very low xxx for now. Who knows what the future really holds for 3dtv. MASS acceptance is key for value to rise but if the tvs are cost prohibitive, theres no market - either for the tv or the domain name. However, Order3dtv.com completely kills its value imo. Way way way too many variables. order/watch/ondemand/free/show/buy/view/etc/etc there was a reason why the domain was available - cause its worthless. i take no joy - it is my honest opinion - as a rather successful domainer.
@mirrorimage: Some pretty bold statements for someone who has recently joined and has 2 posts. Lol? (actually I don't even know whether I should laugh or cry). Get me 3dtv.com for mid-$xx or low-$xxx (or mid to high $xxx for that matter) and you've just made me a very happy man. Just out of curiosity - how much is, say, movies.com worth in your opinion? Mid-$xxx I suppose?
two posts but quite a few years in domaining, 4 in fact - in that time have made mid xxx,xxx as a side hobby. Not showing off, just stating that im not wet behind the ears. have been a silent reader too of DP for quite a few years. Having thought about it a little more, given the fact that it is a short generic.com for 3d tvs, i would say 3dtv would potentially get high xxx offers from a reseller. but i stick by my guns - order3dtv is worthless. So many variations, you could never get an end user to pay a handsome fee for it, or for a reseller to buy it, when they can hand reg a million different alternatives to what you "amazingly" found was still available to reg.... There is a golden rule to domaining. Any good domain worth owning is available for less than two seconds before its gone. So next time you hand reg something thats still available - the biggest question u must ask yourself is WHY is it available movies.com - fair value - just for the domain, in this depressed market, anywhere from $750,000 to $1,500,000. Yahoo sold contests.com for $380,000 in 09, but then you had two big sales in 09 aswell - candy.com at $3,000,000 and toys.com at $5,100,000 No matter what i do wish you all the success in the name. I would love to be proven wrong. A rising tide lifts all boats etc....
thanks for the honest opinions, though its not a go for the neck domain, i still consider it to be OKAY(its not reg free kind of worthless, if that's what you meant, IMO, but it isn't movies.com either, it certainly kills the value, but it still has a value, low as it might be if $xx-$xxx you may be right, i have hope. i also own 3dMicrophone.com
Order3dTv.com is a nice name, but not a gold mine, imho a goldmine are the numbers that mirror image was talking about and i don't see that going anywhere in that stratosphere. ... but, if you've been following any of the domain sales for the first two weeks, you'll see some crazy names going for some big, big money... i haven't researched the sales, so i have no idea if it was solely based on traffic, but here's a couple of example of domains sold for the first two weeks in January 2010: PartySupplies.com - $360,000 HomeRun.com - $131,000 MySports.com - $60,000 CityHotels.com - $40,000 Vivant.com - $40,000 ConnectionExpress.com - $30,000 PersianServers2.com - $17,900 CooCoo.com - $16,000 NSSC1.org - $15,005 Nghenhac.com - $15,000 TravelZone.com - $15,000 Musik-Total.de - $13,423 NursingScholarships.org - $5,900 Those are among the bigger selllers so far ... the first two weeks of 2010 ... as for the lower end...($5,000 and under) .. CHECK THESE NAMES: workincustomerservice.com - $5,000 quickcashadvanceloan.com - $4,500 nutritionalresearch.com - $4,000 swimmingtraining.com - $3,600 alwaysactive.com - $3,588 can2010.com - $3,500 Croisieres.net - $3,455 series-tv.com - $3,100 oralwellness.com - $3,088 YOUR-HOUSE.com - $3,000 JoinTheMovementNow.org - $3,000 simpleonline.com - $2,988 drumspercussion.com - $2,600 Keep in mind, i didn't even touch on international sales, which i admit to not knowing 100% about... OR the fact that these are just the names being REPORTED or sold through auction house...etc.. While i completely respect your straightforward honesty mirror image, respect it even, i have to say to take a look at that list and you're gonna tell me that ALL of those names were taken off the board IMMEDIATELY? I know those aren't all xxx,xxx kind of names, and i know that each end user is different, and i also know that some, probably most of them, bought traffic along with those names... but ya can't tell me that all of those crappy names that sold for DECENT money aren't worth anything - especially when you pay maybe a total of $30 to hold onto them for three years (not counting work and development) .. and f you are able to build the site with work and labor, you mostly get that mney back through advertising or affiliates. I don't care if i sell a hundred $3,000 domain names or one $300,000 domain name ... the end result is the same. I would love for you to give me an estimation on the names i was able to grab... if you could, mirror image, could you check my sig and let me know what you think about what i have over there? I feel pretty good about what i was able to get.. real good, actually... if you agreed - even about a few of the names - i'd feel even better **By the way... .. if anyone is interested in checking out the reported Domain Name sales from the first two weeks of 2010: 2010 - Week One - http://www.dnjournal.com/archive/domainsales/2010/20100120.htm 2010 - Week Two - http://www.dnjournal.com/domainsales.htm
