I have started a directory a month ago thought it would be a fairly unique idea, but it would seem every one is starting a directory.

Feel free to list, it will ask you for a reciprocal link but just type in digital point in the link box.

Why virtual links rather than static? If you are trying to build a directory, I think lots of people would list for the link value alone. Without a true link though, there's very little incentive.

Yeah, there's no point in having a directory in which you dont give people that PR value.

    Thanks for the directory.

There was no "Real Estate" category so I added a couple links under "Business."

    Thanks again. :)

An animal and a color is a good branding combo! Nice.

Did you make the directory software yourself? Looks very impressive.

Thank you to all of you that have submitted so far, and shame on you those who have not!

As Oldwelshguy pointed out the links are effective, some of our early submissions are showing backlinks already. It gets well spidered and I am hoping for good things.

I agree with people who think here comes another directory but my medium to long term goal is to fill the directory with quality sites and start advertising it, there is no point in having a directory if no one will visit.

Have you considered allowing general submissions? Asking for a reciprocal link could make the directory look less useful for many webmasters - there are a few directories around that offer listings within a recip link for a nominal fee - you might like to consider that to increase your scope.

When I decide on having a directory I made the decision based on my own experience of directories. I don’t as a rule pay to join a directory unless it is well known to me ie: skaffe, so I figured why would anybody pay to join my as yet 0 PR site.

Then I thought would I list on directories that require a reciprocal link? and my conclusion was that if I like the look and it had a good PR rating I would consider it.

So I concluded that I am prepared to put in time and money to develop my directory I will allow the invited few to list without a reciprocal link mainly people from seo forums and business forums.

And if I can share what I have learnt so far from the webmasters.

    1- A free listing
    2- No reciprocal link
    3- High PR rating
    4- Quick listing times

If anybody can point in the direction of a directory that has the four things listed above please let me know.

I normally don't submit to directories that require a link, but I liked your directory, so I did :D. Good luck!

tomsk, you have a spelling mistake on the main page. Football is appearing as Footbal, ie only one letter 'l'.

And just found this one as well. - Baby & Christeing Gifts ( 30 ) in the shopping section.

    Will add some sites soon.

I submitted a site to this directory and thank you for adding it I have not linked back yet because I am thinking about changing my site around.....however I definately will as I am pretty sure, after backtracking, that I made a sale from that link in your directory after only being listed for 1 day

I would list in your directory, but it appears I get no link from you at all.

Your links are not to www.mysite.com. They are instead links to your cgi-bin which then redirect to my site. I can’t imagine Google considering this a link.

Are you saying that Google does in fact interpret this method as a link, or are you saying that people who list with you will ultimately receive traffic because you plan to build a quality site?

As a directory, you need to offer at least one of two things, a real link or real traffic. Would you clarify your link structure?
