I have a website which is ranking well on Google.com for the keyword golf bristol. This site is UK based. if i search on google.co.uk i get the results still on the first page. But when i click on "pages from the UK" I cant see the results anywhere near the first 100 Pages. Could someone guide me on how i could optimize this site for better results. I would really appreciate a good tip on this. Rajeev
You wrote the answer yourself: pages from the UK If the pages aren't in the UK, they won't ever show up.
We've been discussing this here recently http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=174963 Though we focused primarily on hosting issues (1 key element in this) to recap; 1) the site should be hosted on a server that is physically located in the UK 2) have a .co.uk domain 3) get backlinks from other sites in the UK Any one of these alone can do it if the site is well optimized (except maybe #3 without having #1 or #2). Having all 3 of those elements would be killer.
Are you certain its in the UK. Use an ip checker to see where it resolves too. A UK based hosting company could simply be a reseller for someone else with servers physically located elsewhere. Other than that I would recommend getting more links from UK based sites. UK related content (should say things like UK, United Kingdom, etc. somewhere in content) and a number of those links should be coming from sites that are also siting on a UK ip address. Your competitors may be better optimized for UK only, even though they are not as well optimized for a general search. Seems kind of weird though. Maybe not enough of your incoming links are UK based. Try to include "UK" and "United Kingdom" in anchor text for some of these links. I'm not certain these things will help or not, but worth a try.
