Optimizing outgoing links

    Hi,
I'm new to this forum and I've just read the recent "The Truth about linking" post. This got me thinking about outbound links and whether or not they should be "optimized" in a similar way to incoming link requests.

Would it be beneficial to have either your keywords or the target pages keywords in the anchor text for the OBL?

Only if it is directly related. Otherwise you will do nothing more than confuse your users when they click on a link that says "Auto Delaers" and they end up on a site about carrots.

... and in case of doubt: just use common sense :)

Thanks yfs1. I wasn't talking about irrelevant keywords, should have said that it would be an on topic outbound link.
