Hi All I have recently launched a new website, and I am hoping that some of you, might be able to take a look at my site, and tell me what I am missing from an SEO point of view. The site is www.racingjobs.com.au and the site is an employment site / job board for the Australian Thoroughbred Racing Industry. All feedback welcome, and the more negative and abusive, the better. Cheers Jake
What main keyword(s) are you wanting to optimize for? Place those in your title tag as well as your description tag. You have too many keywords in your keywords tag, so it's hard to tell what you really want to optimize for. You might want to add some content with header tags, placing your main keywords in those tags as well as the body of your content. Remember, that's just all on-page SEO. It has nothing to do with off-page SEO, which takes a lot more work and time. Plus I just checked out your source code and you have the meta robots tag in there twice. You have: <meta name="robots" content="index, follow" /> as well as <meta name="robots" content="all" /> You only need one of those. Both mean the same thing. Hope that helps a little. Shawn
Thanks a lot for that Shawn. Will I be penalised for having so many (29) Meta Keywords? I guess my main key word / phrases are: - Racing Jobs - Racing Careers - Racing Employment - Horse Jobs Thanks for your other advice as well. At the moment the title of the site is just "RacingJobs.com.au" so I will change it to "RacingJobs.com.au - Horse Racing Jobs". Cheers Jake
Hi Jake, Well it is said that the main search engines no longer even use the keyword tag, but IMO it's best to stay safe and not stuff the tag just in case they actually DO check to see if someone is trying to abuse it. They may penalize you just for trying, especially Google. Just add those keywords you are trying to optimize for to the keyword tag and you'll be fine. Some minor search engines still use the tag anyways. As far as your title tag goes, reverse that and put your keyphrase first like: 'Horse Racing Jobs - RacingJobs.com.au' Your main keyword/phrase should be the first thing a search engine "sees". Also for your list of keywords, don't you mean: - Horse Racing Jobs - Horse Racing Careers - Horse Racing Employment - Horse Jobs The site is about racing horses right? Not just general racing. Regards, Shawn
Hi for a first fast look you have the following issues that you can easily solve 1 the word "racing jobs" which seems to be the main word with other "racing" longer words, is not dense enough in you main page i checked the source and saw it was only once mentioned ... so you could mention it a couple of time more .. may be in a menu too 2 back links needed 3 it would be better if your urls are not like this racingjobs.com.au/listing.aspx?id=2606 better like this racingjobs.com.au/Track Rider hope i helped a little
