I just recently set up my first ever blog over at http://blog.wiiglobal.com. So far, I got a custom template and a few entries. I am planning on posting "real" content very soon. Apart from all this, is there anything I can do to yield more traffic? Any options I should enable in the admin panel or plugins to add? Sites to register at? etc. etc. Feedback would be appreciated!
is that a wordpress blog? Download the sitemap plugin at http://www.arnebrachhold.de/2006/01/07/google-sitemap-generator-for-wordpress-3-beta Sign up for google tools if you have not already. Make sure you update your ping service under 'options' -- 'writing' -- 'update services" to include everything listed here http://codex.wordpress.org/Update_Services and any other (like pinging google) you can think of. Then wait and update. If it is not a wordpress blog, I don't know.
Place as many social bookmarking buttons on your site as you can so you can get more traffic and search engines ranking with every person that archives your blog in there personal favorites. Then you can also join any and all blog directory sites that only require that you place a small box on your site with there logo or whatever... It is a good way to gain traffic and search engine traffic.
I am just about to implement all of those bookmarking sites myself. It seems a good way to generate interest in a blog.
1. don't forget to join technorati and use Wordpress plugins to attach technorati tags with your blog. 2. You should update ping list or go to pingoat and ping everytime you updated your blog to let others know that you have updated your blog. 3. Don't join traffic exchange, they will bring you worthless traffics without any useful. 4. start promote your blog in webmaster, general and niche-related forums. Just contribute and not spammy. 5. You may consider to get opt-in mailing list by offer something free (ebook is a good one) for visitors and keep send mails to them about site updated and keep them returning to your site. 6. exchange with other blogs that have related theme, also consider to buy blog entry to get both link popularity and traffics. sorry that I couldn't post live link for technorati and pingoat because my limitation in this forum now.
Nice start! The right theme is everything! Take your time on selecting the right theme to make sure it works with the bots. Also, use 2.05 rather 2.04; this should be an easy upgrade. And ... do not forget to modify the permalinks. Do these things now and down and save yourself great pain down the road Enjoy the link. Regards.
These are some great suggestions. I am planning to start some sites that run off wordpress so I will be sure to come back to this thread when it happens
