OPtimizing for google in other contries .uk and.au

    Hw do you reccomend optimizing my site so it comes up in high in certain countries such as Australia, the UK, and the rest of Europe?

    Much of the ranking (pages from UK search) is down to your domain extension (.co.uk) and the location of your servers (in that country).

    You can make some headway optimizing for areas like UK, United Kingdom, England etc but you won't be as successful as if you were actually from that country.

    Is there proof that the location of your server is relative to your ability to rank in that Countries version of the SE's?

    I know Shawn ranks #1 up here (.ca) but has his servers in the US. Maybe I should look at hosting in the US to get better rankings in the US. I have heard it mentioned before (almost geo-targetted servers) but have not seen any real proof. Just curious if you have read something that relates them...

    Yes, but it depends on the IP address. Some servers have several IP addresses and all of them can be read differently for many locations. I would not move servers until finding out what other options they offer regarding the recognition of those in terms of where you want to rank.
