Say I have a major competitor bluewidgets.com, and it's popular enough where many people google the domain name...if I create a site called www.new-bluwidgets.com my anchor text should read the search term 'bluewidgets.com' right? So would that make me rank for when people search for my competitors domain name?
Employing some basic index management techniques are we, surprisingly your one of the few who have touched on this subject. Feel free to PM me for more info.
Clever, I never thought of that.. Unless it was a highly popular domain name, how many people search for "blahblah.com" when they could just type it in ?
I can answer that. Most of them. I don't where these stats are that people are basing type in traffic are, but the average internet use uses the search bar religiously. I always see people saying, "type in traffic, type in traffic" but it is not the way it is. Only people versed in the web and the address bar ever use it. That is why search engines are the kings of the internet. If as many people used the address bar as some would have you believe, then there would be no SEO industry, and no reason to have Google, Yahoo, and MSN. Search Engine Optimization. Address bars is what it used to be, and it was too complicated and cumbersome for the average user so search engines and search bars wer created and control the universe. It is nice to have a domain that will get you both, but top of the search results is what we are all doing. We aren't doing it because the majority of users/people are using the address bar.
