Optimizing for Bing and Yahoo

    Hello,

I am noticing most (if not all, actually) my traffic comes from Google searches, meaning that other search engines dont really like my website (even tho its indexed the same on all engines)..

How do I optimize for Bing and Yahoo?

    Thanks!

Google has a lot more traffic than Bing (about 5 or 6 times more) so it's natural that a large majority of your SE traffic will come from Google.

Having said that, there isn't really much of a difference in optimising for Bing. It's pretty much the same as for Google.
    -Proper on-page optimisation (keywords, titles...etc)
    -Quality inbound links
    -Age of domain

Use the bing webmaster tools and ensure that you have allowed the BingBot to access to your pages

No need to specifically optimize for Yahoo and Bing. Both follow ranking models similar to Google and any optimization for Google will also benefit these other major SEs. Just focus on general good SEO practices (on-page optimization, link building, etc.)

You said most of your traffic is coming from Google (which is normal -- as hhsaus pointed out). But this doesn't necessarily mean you aren't doing well on the other SEs. The traffic potential on Yahoo and Bing is much lower than Google, so you could be ranking #1 for your chosen keyword on all major SEs, and Google traffic would still heavily outweigh all the rest.

Submit your site to Bing & Yahoo's Webmaster tool. Ans apply the off-page techniques for your site to get ranking in these search engines

In my experience Yahoo is slower and Bing is the slowest when it comes to crawling and indexing pages properly. At the same time they don't have much traffic as much as Google does. Still, you can look at Yahoo Site Explorer and Bing Webmasters to get an analysis of your website.

All search engines have different strategy for website search ranking. If you are promotion at the Google label than no effect at Yahoo search rank.

Over the past 3 years, we attempted to On-Page optimize for Google, then Yahoo, and finally Bing. What we found was the SEO needs of Yahoo hurt the SEO needs of Google. We now only optimize for Google and ignore Yahoo and Bing.
