Hi there I m looking work on a local school site situated in a suburb. I had a breif a review but really could not understand what pages/keywords should be optimized or targeted apart from home and about us. Any thoughts on what kind of searches can be expected for a school site?
The main seo concern for a local school website is showing up for any searches that include their school's name. They may also want to show up for <city> school, <city> <state> school, <state> school, etc. Really their homepage would be the target for all such searches. So you may only have to optimize the homepage and get some backlinks.
A local school is not enough details to start with... You would want to work on keywords that combine what kind of school it is (private, montessori, Preschool, Elementary, High School, etc....) along with the location.... try and stick with city and county names not by state as you will have much more competion on the general state terms and will not generate you good targeted traffic. For example if I live in Buffalo NY, I am not really interested in finding preschools in New York City... in this case I would search something like "Buffalo NY preshools"
Target the following on page. 1. school name 2. type of school as mentioned by emmaonline 3. city 4. state Build some backlinks with different combination of above in anchor and your all set Tharani

try to use the school location and state as your key target. i am sure that you would get a targetted traffic
Why you want to use SEO or Optimized the site. if i want to optimize my site because i hope that i take more customer from all over the world. what about en local school? why they need SE?
yea other than school. you could always target the are the school is located in, or the courses it offers. Stuff like that i guess.
