I have a website www.youtubex.com and i am looking for someone that knows about writing optimized press releases and if one has a good press release document how does one go about submitting it to the press for a chance of it to be displayed.
Well if your biggest concern is being optimized for search engine, it's not terribly likely any serious media is going to pick it up. They should be your first, and really your only, concern. Anything else is just icing on the cake. You can use a basic press release template from the link in my sig. I'll be adding another soon specifically for online distribution (basically just adding a summary field and saying how to handle those), but that one has pretty much anything you need, and there are articles to tell you how to write them more effectively. Nah, The site is very optimized right now. It ranks on the first page of google for multiple keywords already. I just want a news article about what the site does and see if they in return will help generate some more traffic. Where would i go about submitting the article once this has been written.
A press release is not an article. It doesn't matter how well optimized your site is. It's a tool for disseminating the news to the media. That's its purpose. They're extremely effective when used properly. If all you're worried about is getting backlinks and such, then stick to articles and article directories and spare the wires anymore spammy releases. If you search here for "article directory sites" or something similar you'll likely find hundreds of links to ones you can submit articles to. Jenn
jenn.. do you understand at all that the majority of people on this forum greatly desire links on high pr type sites within page content? Since you have so much experience in a marketing field shouldnt you be trying to market to people here? phelixx is looking for web page optimization, what your offering has nothing to do with the web.. phelixx is looking for somebody who can think of a pitch for his website which will make it newsworthy.
No, im interested in posting a news release to the press of some sort. Do you have any idea on how this is done?
register at prweb.com, try to write something that u can imagine newspapers would actually write.. if in doubt search the web for pr writing tutorials, or hire a professional PR writer to write it for u.
I'm not "offering" anything. He asked about press releases. I'm talking about press releases. I'm a public relations professional with more than enough experience getting stories placed in high quality online and offline media in print and broadcast form. I'm certainly qualified to speak on the subject. Web page optimization is not what press releases are intended for, and if you knew the first thing about press releases, you'd know that you get a far better impact (including in the sense of backlinks and traffic) by writing quality releases and distributing them how they're intended to be. One decent media pickup can lead to a trickle-down effect through smaller media outlets and bloggers, who in turn provide backlinks on their own. Not only that, but PRweb and other so-called wires rarely reach the target audience a person is trying to reach. They predominantly reach members of the media or bloggers looking for something in a niche to write about. They don't lead to direct quality traffic. I know all about what's newsworthy and how to come up with a decent pitch. I make a large part of my living doing precisely that. So I'm one of the last people in this forum that you should be lecturing on press releases. I've worked on both sides of the fence, as a PR professional and in various online media outlets. I know what ticks the media off, and I know what works. The press release "spam" that so many people here post simply for the sake of getting immediate backlinks are precisely the reason why many legitimate media outlets never look to such distribution sites ... there's more garbage than news. I'm discussing how to use press releases far more effectively. Phelixx said he wanted to use a press release, and then goes on to say he wants an "article" to submit. Obviously he doesn't know the difference on some level. He also says he wants to do it for generating traffic. Using them appropriately generates enormously more traffic than more and more garbage. If you knew anything at all about press releases and media relations, you'd already know that. But obviously trying to educate people to do something in a correct fashion is pretty futile sometimes. So I won't waste my breath. I've already taught more than my fair share of members how to write press releases more effectively, and have had several of them come to me telling me about the coverage they've gotten from listening to my advice. So I don't need someone telling me how they're meant to be used. If phelixx decides he actually wants to learn and get a better return on the release, then he's free to contact me privately. Jenn
