Optimized my site, but still low CTR?

Yes, just as it seems www.fantasy-pc.com has been optimized.

I blended the ads on the homepage (2 leaderboards), and on the forums (1 leaderboard at the top).

But my CTR is still less than 1 for this month so far (Started blending/optimizing on March 31st). The last few clicks (2-3) got me a about $2 so thats not that bad, but what is wrong with my CTR?

What else can I do to improve my adsense earnings and optimize it?

    Thanks!

Your homepage size is too large. I use 1024x768 which I think most people still use. I am by no means an expert but your ads aren't in places that get my attention.

The ads blend in so well that I would have actually read your homepage articles to end up clicking on an ad. Just my 2cents.

    1. Why do people visit your site? To click your links or to get information?

Sites that look really really crappy and have no other option but to click a link or leave the site sometimes do really well for click throughs but don't sustain traffic.

Blending works for some sites not for others. Sometimes people like to see those blue links which they expect to be links. Sometimes black just looks like underlined text... they hit your site don't want to read it so just leave.

You have to know your visitor and why they came. People are looking for solutions. Don't expect a lot of clicks form sites that offer a lot of in depth information or sites that don't offer an immediate solution to your visitors problem.

I see sites like yours all the time. Visit plentyoffish.com and check out his ads. He makes a TON of money from Adsense because he has a bazillion visitors but his click through is dismal... a fraction of a percent.

Well people go to my site for information. I mean it is not just so people can read in depth things, it is where people can talk about anything, play games, and discuss lot's of things.

We may not get too many visitors, 155 uniques daily, and 6500 hits daily.

But I am not sure where to go from here.

    How is CTR calculated?
