Hi, I been looking at this forum for a while now, and finally decided to make a useful post, I believe others can benefit from this topic. So here's my situation: I just created a website to promote a specific product/offer, basically a review about the product/offer and a opt-in form. I am planing to SEO it. I don't plan on updating the site very often nor go crazy with it, I don't think it is worth the daily attention. So my question is: For example: Should I create a Squidoo Lens or Ezine(or any reputable major website), link it to my website, and put all my SEO efforts and backlinks towards the Squidoo Lens or Ezine? Reason for my thinking: Squidoo Lens or Ezine(or any reputable major website)` ranks better, it is older, and it is constantly updated and reputable. My website is brand new, it doesn't even rank for a keyword yet, and it not going to be constantly updated. But should I focus on putting all my SEO efforts and backlinks towards my newly created website either way and hope it does well? Any suggestions is appreciated. Thank you!
yaah you're right if you do that .. you can use the major website like as dummy site to linked to yours .. that's the better idea i guess and of course al we need to make our site grow up is backlink so that one of solution is optimize major website to linked to yours ..
What I do is, I used to write some reviews and publish on my blog and then post the same on EZA as well as some other high traffic article directories & get backlinks to my blog + my affilitate link. It is just like "2 in one" I am getting sales from my blog + EZA and other articles too
if it a long term serious project then it's better to promote your own website, but if you are just testing the water, and trying new ideas, then promoting the squidoo page is not a bad idea, but as i said, it's always better to promote your own site when you are after a long term brandable business.
Thanks for the hint. Do you submit the same exact article to every directory? Mind if see one of your pages? Yeh, deff not a long term brandable business. My main concern is that it has no chance of of getting a very high search engine ranking. It's a 4 page website and I don't intend on expanding it much more.
In my opinion, you should use your SEO skills for your web-sites. Articles should be strictly used to get your site rank higher. There are couple of reasons behind it. The way to do is create a highly optimized web-site. Submit articles to fetch backlinks to your site. Also promote your site through social bookmarking, forums whatever. Eventually your site will rank high for all keywords you are targeting for. Any point of time you want to quit the niche, you can sell your site for good money.
