Optimize vs Rotate: Whats Better?

How do you guys feel about optimize versus rotation of ads? I tend to put my ads on rotate whenever I ad new ad copy to give it a fair shot at traffic. The last few months, more out of laziness than anything, Ive just left it on rotate figuring the ads I had out there were already optimized and it wouldn't change anything. Can you see any advantage to putting it on optimize if you have 3 ad copies that have basically the same conversion and ctr? Thanks all

I say the rotate option is better because it lets you split test your ads in an even manner.

It depends what your needs are. If you plan to login at regular time periods and add/delete ad variations regularly to constantly try and better your previous advert then even ad rotation is best to allow even impressions and give you more accurate CTR comparison measures. If you're the lazy type who just wants one of the ads to eventually take dominance, then put it on optimised rotations.

I prefer rotate as well, cause even if you only check on the CTR, quality rate, traffic rate, and writing new ads once a month, that will still give you a good clue as to how your ads are performing.

If down the road you decide you want to really get serious about split-testing (Or you want to pay someone to write new ads for you), and you have had them on optimize all this time, it would be like re-starting the campaign to be able to see which one is doing the best. You'd have to switch them to rotate, wait a week or two, and then see which one did better. Pause the one not doing so well, and re-write a new ad to compete.

With it being permanently on rotate even while being lazy, you take out that initial week or two period and have a much longer period of time of testing from the 2 ads being shown. My advice: stick with rotate, even if you're feeling lazy about updating your ads all the time :)

I would say rotate as well. Optimize is for people never paying attention to their ongoing campaigns.

Rotate if you are going to manage the campaign/account

Optimize if you are going to set it up and leave it for long periods

Always recomend rotation and keeping a close eye on your campaigns

I believe rotate is the best option because things are always changing and the same ad texts are not always the best.

Rotate is best. Optimize is best for Google.
