Optimize a dynamic site for long tail search

    Hi,

I've been looking at the videos at www.convertlinks.com and listened as marketers talked about the "long tail." It's interesting stuff, since I've never heard of it before, and I'd like to try my hand at it since it can increase a site's visibility via natural search. However, it seems that "long tail" searches are pretty much suited for static sites :( .

So, for the SEO professionals out there, I ask you this: is it possible to optimize a dynamic site for "long tail" searches, thereby increasing natural search visibility?

    Thanks,
    Dude-Dastic

As someone new to this, please explain 'long tail'. I really hate to sound 'ignorant' but I figure this forum is the place to learn and find out what I don't know.

I have a couple of very new sites and really want to do everything I can to optimize them as well and quickly as possible.

    Thnx,
    D.

Most of the sites they use in the videos arent static. They have a pretty decent backend behind the site, but they use mod_rewrite to hide it. Which is what you need to do to rank good anyways.

Just remember that there is much more to this that just optimizing your pages.

Very true. I use something similar on my search site. Try this query for kicks :) http://www.searchnology.com/dude-dastic.html

I however wouldn't be enamored by this fancy name for "keyword targeting".

    Good luck.
