Hi, I just started really getting into SEO and the importance of keywords. I have put the keyword I use, Web Design & Development, in most of my content. What I'm wondering is if there is anything else I can do so I can get close to the first page of Google at least (I can't find my web site within 9 pages, it's a really competitive keyword)? Any suggestions to help me out. My website is my online portfolio for my freelance web design & development services found at http://www.serenedestiny.com Any tips with On-Page or Off-Page SEO and general tips for keywords would be very helpful. Thank you, Nicole
Getting rankings will mostly come down to getting quality, relevant backlinks. You will want links using your target keyword(s) as link anchor text. You will also want links from pages that use your target keywords in their url, page title and/or page content. Be sure you vary your link anchor text to keep your links looking natural. An unnatural link profile can get you flagged as a spam website. Since link anchor text is so important you should change your forum signature to target better keywords. Personally I think you should choose a less competitive target keyword phrase. You usually won't get much traffic unless you can reach page 1, especially the top 3 spots. So try to do some further keyword research to find a less competitive phrase that you stand a better chance of ranking well for. Remember that you don't necessarily need thousands of visitors each day. You could do quite well with 100 - 200 very targeted visitors per day.
Hi, in your meta tags keywords and meta content tag, and the title of your page, the keyword you are targeting should be first in the list on all of these. This will give you a better chance, not to mention everything mentioned above. Goodluck.!
I got some suggestions, first is your website title. I have learned that it's best to follow the "Keyword Category - SiteName" for easier indexing from SEs. Now the keywords your using are competitive enough, thats good, play with your keywords because they give you higher traffic for every good keywords your using... Btw, nice site, are you updating it?
Thank you for all of your help, when I get the time I will implement them. It's a portfolio site, so I never get to update it unless I'm updating my portfolio though I am working on a blog for it, but I haven't had time to get it up.
Thanks for all your help so far. I have decided to change my keywords to Web Design and Development Services because it was less competitive, but still searched. I am hoping to get my blog up soon to help out with SEO, but does anyone else have any tips?
