optimization of not english website

    Hi

I was working on a not english website and thought if there are any real differences between the rules or steps of optimization.

For example - can I exchange links with English websites (with relevant content). Like if I got too many links from english language websites and only a few from local language sites? Does it do any harm or good?

    And so on...

    Your thoughts :)

    Thanks

Ya, no difference at all. It's probably a lot easier, since you're trying to rank for non-english keywords at a non-english Google. And since their isn't a sandbox for non-english type sites (in the non-english Google), you should be able to rank relatively quick.

Honestly, that's one of the experiments I've never tried. I've pretty much tried all of them and I was going to try an experiment with only getting non-english incoming links and see how rankings reacted last year, but never made the time for it.

The only question is if they're MORE powerful then just regular english site links? That I'm not sure, but regardless, getting links from english sites will help you rank well.

I'm kinda afraid of google not unerstanding that the links are related.
    That's the problem for me.
I'm not sure, that google will consider french site about i.e. SEO, related to the english site about seo.

You could make it multilingual site by adding english language as well, also you need to research on keyword(s) that people might use to find your site as they may use both in english and french or any other language. You could also try out to get backlinks from multilingual relevant sites.
