Optimizing a dynamic website is not that easy as it of static website.. As far as i know we can conduct keyword research and create meta tags. Not simple meta tags as in static website, you need to create dynamic meta tags ..... Other thing to optimize your site you can remove excessive variables and unwanted JavaScript. To gain traffic and ranking you need to conduct normal off-page activities ...
SEO link building and backlinks might help. Submit your sites to several directories to improve your ranking.
It is difficult index dynamic URLs for Google as it is usually saying trap for Google, so it will create a bad impression on Google in case of dynamic sites. What we need to do is just rewrite the dynamic URLs to static URL that you can do with mod_rewrite command in .htaccess if you using Apache server. And another thing is usage of CGI/PERL scripts, which gives the flexibility to assign variables to each products surfs. Create a static page which contains all the dynamic URLs and optimize for this page so that it will index soon, use alt tag in products ans other images.
Same rules apply as with static pages with a couple of extras really, make sure all dynamic URL's are SEO friendly. But with the rest its pretty much the same but you just need to use variables for dynamic stuff really so it atuomatically changes to the words/phrases needed. If its a prebuilt e-commerce site then as already stated there are alot of seo pluging and seo friendly themes for most e-commerce sites. Personally I think your better of making your own dynamic sites instead of these prebuild ones, thats assuming your server-side and client-side programming skills are upto scratch to do so, means you are making it exactly as needed and can think about the SEO side of it while building the site, instead of worrying about how to alter code done by someone else after.

if your site have dynamic pages having space in last words of url then remove it and place"-" instead of space also do offpage more n more and palce home page link to that page.
I think the best way to promote the dynamic to use social bookmark website and social media website,and post the blogs frequently.thus, the pages of the site will be indexed by google soon.
