I recently contacted my host for a solution to a problem I've been having, heres my support ticket: Here is my hosts reply: What type of memory does he mean, 16mb isn't a lot! I assume he means 16mb per request? The problem is only really on sites which have wordpress installed therefore I need to know how to 'optimise wordpress' - how does one go about doing that!? the site in question is eruanna.net. I know wordpress is a memory hog sending out numerous database requests and I've installed wp-cache but its obviously not good enough! I'd switch to MT if it didn't take an age to upload and textpattern if I could get my head around it (and it had as many plugin's as I use!) Any help gratefully appreciated!
Well, the best bet is to go for a VPS, cause you can get a decent one at $10 a month unmanaged these days with free LxAdmin control panel. WP Cache should lessen the load quite a bit for normal visitors...but if your WP uses a lot of plugins, sitemap generators, etc. stuff it might consume huge memory depending upon the DB size and other factors.
Do you have any recommendations? I'm currently hosting a few clients on my reseller and if their sites are messed up by this its going to be worth moving! (for the 3rd time :S!) ooo apparently wp-cache wasn't enabled! From the logs My site was only just over the limit so it should be ok, for a while!
