I see that many webmasters or site developers only buy articles between 300 and 700 words, mostly about 450 words. Is that a real advantage to have articles in this range? I suppose that articles with less than 300 words will not be indexed correctly, but does someone know the relationship between length and income of articles?
Under 400, When you get to the 500 word mark you are already boring the reader. get your point across without fluff. Quite possible from 350-450 words.
I think most blog posts are like 250 - 350 words. Articles average at 500 words. Some articles can run longer - even to like 1,000 words. I think a lot of it depends on what you are saying, how well you are saying it and especially - if you are keeping the reader's interest. Web writing is much shorter than print writing it seems.
I have to agree with both of the posters above. If I am writing something and can't get it said in 500 words I will break it into 2 parts hopefully along a natural break-point. Though I love to read books I find more than 500 words on the screen is just too much.
I tend to aim for 300 words. I want to get the reader through my article and onto my site ASAP. I have been considering trying out longer pieces - 700-800 words, to see if they get republished more.
Actually, I prefer reading longer "feature-length" articles most of the time. I've also found on my own blogs that the longer posts tend to perform much better than the posts of 300 words or so. People bookmark them, keep coming back to them, and tend to spread the word more. So from the reader perspective and not strictly for SEO, I've found longer to be much better (as have many of the most popular content sites on the Web - newspaper sites, online versions of magazines, etc., which not only outrank most "Web content sites" or blogs in traffic, but often also in SE rankings).
Well, more no. of words in an article will facilitate the usage of keywords appropriately. If your article is too short like 250-300 words, you may not be able to place the KWs in a way you want it to. If you use extra large article (containing 1000+ words), more no.f KWs might have to be used. Also, readers will always not prefer reading lengthy articles. They might lose interest and patience any time, isn't it? So, anywhere between 450-500 words would be optimum. Hope this helps
Although the content is important and words make no problem But it is still said 300-400 word Informative post /article keeps the reader, over these words makes the reader bore unless there is any cruical thing
I tend to prefer longer posts and articles. Like Jen I find that longer articles perform better long term. My earnings, where I can track them, mostly arise from longer articles either through AdSense or affiliate links. Looking at my own blog posts and web pages that get the most traffic, and I guess also have the best search engine ranking, the longer posts and articles stand out.
I've noticed that a lot of sites with longer articles only show the first paragraph or two. I'll click on an article title and description, get the beginning of the article, and then need to click again for the complete article. It really emphasizes what they taught in journalism class long ago, that you need to get all the key points in that first paragraph.
