We use (purchased) OpgiGold-ISP in our Wireless ISP operations. I would like to ask if anybody has OptiGold managing MAC addresses and bandwidth for customers. I am trying to set up ServerEvents to trigger a telnet to a Cisco router. I can handle the Cisco and Telnet scripts without any problems. The problem I do have is getting OptiGold to perform a ServerEvent which calls my Telnet scripts. My telnet scripts to mange email on my Linux (Mandriva 64-bit) server work great. Is there field in OptiGold for customer Mac Addresses? I am currently trying to use <BB3> but there are no events that appear to trigger anything. Any input is welcome. Tom Jones - North Idaho Coeur d'Alene Tribe -edited to add more information- FYI: The reason why I need add-hold-modify-delete ServerEvent telnet scripts is so that I can auto telnet to a Cisco router and perform some route changes based on MAC addresses. If a customer is on hold, my telnet scripts will null-route the IP address of the wireless customer. I did consider using a Radius database - however the problem there is that Radius will authenticate a connection - after that the wireless customers stay connected. So radius is not an option because I need to halt IP traffic to/from customers in real time when we place them on hold or take them off hold.
We were doing this. It was a bit of a hack and very time consuming. We ended up moving to Platy for our Wireless Operations. FYI, when we did this with Optigold, we had used ETINC BWMGR to control bandwidth via MAC and or IP, and did this in a semi-automated fashion.. I guess you can make it work, but to me, it was just easier to set things up manually than muck around trying to make something work all the time. Good luck.
