Optigold Upgrade Path

If it is possible to upgrade just the web-interface installation of my Optigold to the latest version (and not the server), is that also the case for the user client installs?
If so, are there any side effects? (Might the users see non-existant buttons or pass errant data into the server?)
Might a 3.x to 3.y upgrade path for Optigold be:

    Upgrade Web Interface
    Upgrade Clients
Upgrade Server ...overnight, everyone comes in and it just works (?)

(as opposed to upgrading the server and then getting the clients going in the face of errors in the morning?)

Depends on how old of a version, but in most cases it should be fine... clients will always be okay upgrading to the latest, the web interface should be okay. But worst case scenario, is new web interface functions would not be available if it required changes on the back-end (everything else should work though).

We upgraded Optigold today (3.1.3 to 3.3.6). It looks as though everything is correct (at least from what we can tell before our users get in there and really look stuff over) except that now the web interface says only "aid aid aid aid aid" in a column under Invoices and Payment and Usage information are not displayed.

There were no errors during the upgrade and the Invoice, Payment, and Usage information looks correct with a regular Optigold client.

Ever seen this? Something normal/dumb maybe? Any suggestions? (I tried reinstalling 3.3.6 on the web server machine but it did not make a difference.)

(I had upgraded this to 3.3.6 prior to the server, as I did with most of the clients.)

(here it is without formatting...also the stuff under the buttons looks okay, also the stuff to add accounts looks okay, and seems to work, etc... just not pulling stuff up for account management)

Trying to confirm that now. I have done a reinstall on a seperate box of the web connector but the web files themselves are on a different machine that has only the Filemaker WSC5-IIS connector installed. I am currently attempting to make a new web-client and web-files server, but finding a machine without an Optigold trail on it is tough. I have one that appears to not have any remnants of Optigold installed but when I do an ispfull336 install it only offers me "Workstation" "Runtime" and "Database" installations (not web). I have another that has old fp5's on it that I think get in the way, I have a clean on but it is Windows 2003/IIS5 and it appears that the connector does not see the scripts directory (though I made one), etc... I am hoping to have an out-of-the-box set to test with. It really looks like everything else is right...just the data filtering through that interface is off.

Okay I figured out that I had not actually installed the fmunlimited yet on the box that was giving me weird OG install options.

What I have now on what I regard as a (largely) pre-this-OGless box out-of-the-box web-test solution is that it does not seem to be able to see its addform1.txt file or its results.txt file.

What I did was, installed Optigold on a Windows 2000 box that I also user as an OG client.

It found some old mainmenu.fp5 file from an old test and so asked me if I was in the middle of upgrading so I said yes.

It gave me only database server and web server as options.

I chose web server. It installed, and it filled \filmaker...\web with stuff.

I launched as web, pointed the plugin at index.html and gave it a port.

Then I installed the WSC5 filemaker connector thing on the same box.
This seemed to install right, asked to reboot, etc...
When finished there is a .dll in the scripts directory and I can go to FMPro?config, picked an admin, logged in, launched the client, scanned it, the (real on server) mainmenu.fp5.

Then I noticed that there were no index.html files in the web server path anywhere.
So I copied the ones from \filemaker...\web to wwwroot\og and now I get a canned index and a canned add when I go there, but if I attempt to login to account management it tells me that it cannot find results.txt or if I try to sign up it says that it cannot find addform1.txt. Those file names appear to be in both the same folder as the index.html \og and down \web in the filemaker server.....same thing happened on two boxes essentially (though this is a cleaner install).

    Any ideas?

Nevermind on that last one, I searched, I found the webserver subfolder path must equal web subfolder path thing...probably been working on the wrong files all along...but I see good things on my out of the box install....so that is a big relief.

Okay, so I ultimately traced that back to a branded results.txt file (or at least to not having gotten a new one in my real \web\ files...the new-post install one displays invoices but days "Brought to you by Digital Point Solutions" instead of the company logo (which is a much better result for sure).

Now though, the drama seems to be starting. Techsupport just mentioned after 5 hours of use that they are seeing slowdowns and telltale "parsing records...." boxes (where they would not normally be). I checked mail and it looks like the Billing staff are hand-generating invoices and finding that some invoices have the wrong billing cycle items on the invoice as:

    "
    Larry Smith
    Cust #12345

I click on "New Invoice" -> I get a message box "Do you want to add this
customer's Billing Cycle items to the invoice?" -> I answer "No" -> the
"FSI-KKPROP" and "FSI-KKPROP-SETUP" billing cycle items show up on the
invoice, neither of these billing cycle items are even listed on Larry's
    account.
    "

They are running the rebuild indexes which accounts for the techsupport slow-downs. Any other advice/tricks?
