Optigold Download Broken

When I try to download Optigold from digilatpoint's site it returns the following error:

Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2) in /home/.sites/28/site1/web/products/download.php on line 23

Could not connect


Does anyone have a copy of the latest version they can send to me? I need to rebuild a crashed optigold server ASAP!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

yeah and i emailed support 3 times and no response. I ended up finding the optigold download using an ftp link that another customer of optigold had sent me.

So much for the "lifetime" support that came with the software.

 

Yeah, this is pretty lame.. We were working on integrating PayPal into our system today and I figured I would see if there was a more recent version of the web server installer to see if anyone had ever fixed all the bugs in the paypal.php file..

Imagine my surprise when I find that mysql error page.. I figured it was just a fluke or something until I saw your post. Seems to me like it has been down over a week now at least...

That's pretty lame... Oh well, for now, I was able to fix the bugs in the paypal.php file so I am not too worried at the moment.

 

No luck with customer non-support either.

 

yeah support for optigold is non-existent. Shawn has ceased development of the software. So much for the 'lifetime' support optigold came with when we purchased it years ago.

Optigold did do its purpose for us for the last 10 years but we're in need of more modern features which it just doesn't possess.

We're currently migrating our client base to the billing system WHMCS

Have you tried looking over at the WHT forums?

 

Tucows bought [SIZE=-1]Platypus [/SIZE]a while back. While I have used it for some time, I will have to say the UI is clumsy, confusing and overly cluttered.. Like most things Tucows touches, it's devoid of any life IMO... Just not a friendly interface. Plain, but not simple.

The most annoying thing is that it requires using Microsoft SQL, which requires ridiculous license fees from MS... The end user client workstation also need be running Windows, or some windows based environment... None of us use windows...

A billing system needs to be (first and foremost) 100% platform independent. If it is not, it's completely useless.
