    Hi Shawn,

Does anyone know if OptiGold has a API I can use to extend or add features. I code using Visual Studio 2003/2005 so I would need something that can work with the .NET Framework 1.1 or 2.0

    Hi Shawn,

Thanks for the reply. I would like to extend the base of Optigold. An example would be the web based portion or add additional database providers or use the new Windows Presentation Foundation to add slick User Interface elements along with additional features.

There is a web interface built in. You can't use a different database engine.

    Hi Shawn,

I know there's already a Webbased UI however I think it could be very well expanded. With the new Microsoft.NET based goodies I think this is a time that Optigold can have that new Vista look. I build only Microsoft.NET based software and I truely believe that with all the developer tools I have Optigold could be a ton better.

I demoed Optigold before and I thought it was lacking in area's of UI along with some features that could be easy to implement with a API or something. I am leaning towards more of an API for expanded web based feature set. I am not sure how powerful the signup area is but lets say someone needed a more powerful signup area.

My idea would be to intergrate Commerce Server 2002 or 2006 as that is a very powerful commerce framework from MS and have all the signups go through my Commerce Server solution. That's the idea I had of thinking of expansion of features and usefulness.

And another thing would be to allow users to select what kind of database engine they want to use instead of being locked into FileMaker.

Sorry, not possible... Also there are no plans to make Optigold platform dependent in the future.

Bad ideas all of them. No one *wants* to run Microsoft solutions if they don't have too, they are stuck with them. Get out in the world use something besides Microsoft, broaden your horizons and your mind, things just work better the less Microsoft you can get into the equation.

    Hmmm excuse me Drwho17,

By no means would this force you to run on Windows. If you already run Optigold with Windows it's a nice little additional features you get. If you run Linux then by no means do you need to purchase my addons. And also if you do decided to switch to Linux just take the PHP files with ya and move them.

Simple as that. Leave the aspx files on Windows. My stuff would be built on-top of Optigold so there would be NO modifications to Optigold source code. Basicly that means you could run either Windows or Linux but my addons would only work on Windows.

I have my prefered programming language. Shawn does too. We both create awesome tools and applications. Even though we do program in totaly different languages that does not mean his or my stuff sucks. I prefer Microsoft's developer tools over say PHP or things like that. Shawn on the other hand loves PHP and would much rather program in PHP then C# or VB.NET. And I do not only ASP.NET Development but I also do Windows Development like drivers and stuff in that area and being a Microsoft.NET knowing VB.NET I can create both Windows and ASP.NET apps.
