Opt-In form : Double Vs Single

My opt-in page is ready, but I have a doubt concerning the decision about choosing Double opt-in (request confirmation of email address) or just single (just add them to my list immediately after they opt-in).

I know single sounds better in a way, due to many people just don´t confirm, but I´v heard from a few affiliates that they prefer double because they have less problems with spam claims and stuff like that.

    What do you think?

And , if I choose double opt in, should I first direct them to a "please confirm your email" page or just direct them to my thank you page and expect for them to confirm the next time they check their email?

    Thanks!

Double confirm without a doubt , then at least you have proof that they opted in.

Direct them to a "please confirm" page so they know what to expect and what to do.

double confirm is better, because then you are definitely not spamming.

Just give them something to make them want to confirm, so in your opt-in form, offer them a free report or something. Then after they've confirmed, direct them to a page that says thankyou, and reminds them to check their email adn confirm to get their free report.

then once they confirm, give them like a 5 page pdf report on your topic. This way they feel good, they trust you already because you've given them free stuff, and you get opt-ins :).

If they can't / don't confirm their email, then they are probably not interested in what you're offering (a problem with you or them) and thus having them on the list is worth very little.

Double Opt In's CONVERT MUCH BETTER. Don't waste time with single opt in's. Additionally, you'll want to redirect to a page telling them to confirm their opt in.
