Is anyone having any luck with opt in emails? i've heard good things, but I'm not having any sales...
if by this you mean an opt in list, my first affiliate sale came from someone who had subscribed to my list like 2 months before, so I say all you can do is build your list and hope for the best
Definitively worth looking into! Normally a visitor (read potential customer) visits your site, leaves 98% of the time for whatever reasons, and is gone forever. Using a good opt-in list is extremely valuable as it allows you to market over and over again to the same person, without having to pay for expensive PPC clicks. I've currently listed it on the 2nd place in my own 'worst internet marketing mistakes' 1. Not tracking sales & conversions (took me a few days to figure that out) 2. Not using an opt-in list (took me a few months to discover this ) It's one of those things that will feel like it's unnecessary, maybe not worth your time, until you actually give it a try and are amazed by the results
You should definitely be working to generate your own list to market to. That's what the big marketers do. Opens up the doors to many other bizops such as joint ventures. A good list can be as valuable as the product itself, sometimes even more.
Do, you think having a place to sign up for a news letter or something is better than having a pop up window? I realy try to stay away from pop ups. Or do you have any other ideas for building a list? Paul
I've always found that on-page forms get a lot more sign-ups as pop-ups generally annoy people and ensure that they don't opt-in.
I think it depends on how hungry the crowd is, from my experience. Jo-average surfer might not think too much of popups... but if you provide a super-targetted popup that throws exactly what the search is looking for in their face and basically says "CLICK HERE FOR FREE TIPS [or a free ebook]ON SOLVING YOUR PROBLEM", people aren't really going to mind. For example, take Day Job Killer. He has a "popup". What does it say? "FREE course! Steal this $100,000 niche... and see this $1,163,396 Clickbank Account". Now, how many people really seriously looking for information on make money online AREN'T going to opt-in because it's "too annoying"? However, if you're sending untargeted traffic to a targeted page, you could easily get a lot of people passing on by. To be honest, on the variety of mailing lists I have right now, the one that's the most targeted with the pop-up opt-in gets the most signups. I'm not throwing a ton of traffic at the list, but I'm getting about 2-5 signups a day. Not terribly much, but over time, it really adds up. -T
