I am looking for some suggestions on legitimate opt in e-mail marketing. We have tried a couple of companies with little success. Am I wasting my time and money? Should I be looking at other ways to drive traffic to my site?
1. Build a community around your product via blogs, forums, etc. 2. Don't sell your product to your target audience yet. Spend time to get to know them. 3. Ask for feedback on your product. If it's a great product, the users will spread the good word.
You should always be looking at other ways to drive traffic to your site. Never limit yourself to one or just a few options. Having said that, Email Marketing can be VERY effective if: 1) You are marketing to the right lists. 2) The offer itself is appealing. 3) Your offer is well presented. 4) Your call to action is clear and compelling. Get any of these wrong, and any campaign will fall flat. The BEST method for email marketing is to build and manage your own lists which can take some time. So outsourcing to email companies while you build your list is a good way to bridge the gap.
Are u looking for the software or asking how to make people join your business. If u want to male people join or but your product, you should guide them to make money and not to sell them products directly...give first and then take...he..he... give and take..
I don't think you're wasting your time, but don't put all of your eggs in one basket. Traffic generation is what will get people to the page that has your opt-in form, so without TRAFFIC, you're not going to get many subscribers. The fact is, once you build a substantial list, it DOES give you a way to earn income on demand. You don't get that list overnight. Once you do begin to build it, you must cultivate your list... and by all means, keep your subscribers happy. You don't want them to feel like you are trying to get their money everytime you send them an email.

It is not a waste of time, but for me, it is not a traffic generation technique. I build all my lists myself. I get users of my sites to opt-in and market to them. They are already users of my site, so it is easier to sell to them. Using outside lists can be quite difficult!
