This could well backfire as it is the first time Oprah has thrown her hat in the political arena, and to be honest all though many might NOT think so politics is supposed to be serious business

She has thrown her hat in with a lame duck candidate so they will get what they deserve at the end

I wonder if she's going to lose her job now, like Rosie did when she turned up to be a Ron Paul supporter?

Oprah Winfrey is a millionaire probably many times over. She will not lose her job because she works for herself. She owns the studio that produces the Oprah Winfrey show. She may even decide to run for vice president if she feels like it.

Obama needs to attract the support of Women, and women tend to respect and listen to Oprah, not a bad move on his part.

Yeah, I saw that. Can't really comment as to whether I think it is true or not. I don't really know. She has always had a large fan base. Although I have not watched her for years. Her show was never that interesting to me. It seemed her show would be:
    1. She makes a judgement about something
    2. She tells you what you should think
    3. Everyone sits around saying wow Oprah you are so wonderful

I like talk shows where they present different opinions. People will cringe at this, but even Jerry Springer was better. Oprah is just kind of boring for me to watch.

Oprah is a very charismatic woman, I think Clinton got plenty to worry about this time. I feel it also significantly boost Obama status among female voters.

Britishguy, you have pursued this before, and I called you on it several times then but you never responded:

Now, Obama and Clinton are in an apparent dead heat going into Iowa. I'd request you answer now: On what basis are you claiming Obama's campaign is a "lame duck," "nothing," etc.?

Depends on which way you look at it, but for sure imho any person who has no chance of becoming President is running a lame duck campaign, of course Obama is one of many running a wasted campaign

Oprah, Oprah...tshstshsstshhh...I think she should stay away from politics, she already pushes way too much corporatism onto people's lives. Don't get me wrong, she has done a lot of good and I like her a lot for that, but I think getting involved in this might be a bit too much as I think it might hurt the guy more than help him. Never know though. She has a huge cult like following there is no denying in that.

Working for yourself is relative... You can own 10 studios, but who's going to air you if you don't support approved candidate

I personally wouldn't vote for someone just because ANY celeb endorsed them. And I definitely won't vote for anyone Oprah endorses. She endorses frauds, she doesn't do her homework before raving about someone or their book. Examples: the rapper who's mom just died because of plasitc surgery. The surgeon was on Oprah and she was toting that he was one of the most knowledgable surgeons, blah, blah, blah. Turns out the guy has tons of DWIs, battery charges, and is not board certified by the board of plastic surgeons and they are trying to revoke his license because he's had so many malpractice suits.....she also endorsed some book in her book club and the author turned out to be a fraud too....

Keep your opinions to yourself Oprah. Just because you are a billionaire does not mean you are automatically INTELLIGENT!!!
