I added a donations plugin, buy me a beer, changed to buy me a coffee.

    http://www.osflv.com/

Just need to do something to make up for my near-0 CTR. Think anyone will donate?

    Highly unlikely.

It's very hard to get people to donate, especially for services and products that are one-use or one-visit.

Keep it up there and you may score a couple dollars (literally), but don't expect much. You also have to look at your target audience and the use of your product or service.

For instance, if your software helped the environment, it would have a higher chance of receiving donations (and a greater amount) than say software for the 10-30 crowd that alters your favorite online video game.

Put an adsense block there and tell people to click the ads to donate to you... Then see if Google has the same amount of generosity as your visitors.

Google doesn't. They'll kindly ban you for violating ToS.

I feel that it really downgrade the image of your site, try not to put such donate thingy, these are only good for charitable organizations.

Yeh, my thoughts are the same. :)

By the way... you might consider changing that "Yes, I can" link to "Donate" or "Donate coffee" or whatever.
