I personally like number 3. I like the consistency with the squares which remind me of children's building blocks. It just doesn't feel right for the ones which use circles and squares.
if its a childrens website I would go for 3 or the last one. And maybe use some more colors, if its a childrens site.
Thanks everyone! Its not a childrens website per se; it is a flash games website and could appeal to people of all ages.
Hmm . . .you might have a problem with the design in the sense that people start to think that it's a kids site. . . (that's their first impression . . .might consider a slight redesign.) I like 4 but I think you should a orange instead of purple and maybe a different blue. Make the colors more bright and less dead. This is my honest opinion and I do realize how much work goes into these things . . .because I myself go nuts for days just to get the design part right. I think you have a foundation . . .build on it and make it look more "gamey "? Skinny
Skinny, very good points! I was going with a more subtle color scheme primarily because I was modeling the site after IMDB in the sense that I want the site to create the impression of being very professional. Not just professional in looks. If that makes sense?
OK, heres the problem I'm running into... Everyone seems to like 3 and 7. Most people also say they look like building blocks, and yes, the name of the font itself is babys building blocks or something. The message I'm trying to portray is: Professional (To the extent that I need to live up to the name of the site with the branding in the header!) Fun (as much fun as flash games can be www.fogdb.com - the games are there but the site is currently a mess as far as looks is concerned!) I dont want the site looking all bright, fun and happy like www.fadplay.com if that helps? Thanks for any further help!
Maybe you could make a collage of the best games you have to offer in the header. I dont think the baby building blocks will do it for you. good luck
