I just got the domain biodegradablesunscreen.info for the key phrase "biodegradable sunscreen". I need some reviews on it - do you think it might make a good candidate for a small AdSense-ready site? It gets around 8k searches/month, and $1.20 ad cost with medium competition. I looked at the first page, and while some authoritative sites were there, it didn't look too bad. It's also summer, so searches may increase. I'm investing around $15 on the site itself (domain and articles). Do you think I should be able to earn it all back and make a worthy profit?
I think you would definitely get your $ back on "biodegradable sunscreen". As you said, page 1 doesn't look to tough: a few Mexcio-related sites; Amazon. Some decent articles, and google ad$sense should do alright. For $15, it sounds like the perfect time for your long-tailed name.
the question is can it make $115 a year? I am sure the hosting isnt free. What is your ROI? (return on investment) Treat it like any individual business investment
Well I'm not sure yet And the hosting is on my own servers, which I pay for with other websites. So it doesn't affect this one.
If you can get a .com .org or .net it would be better, they tend to rank better and if you were ever to sell it, it would be easier to sell than a .info site.
I think that even though you have a good keyword formated domain you might find it hard to break into the top 10. I did a quick analysis with Market Samurai and here are some factors The youngest domain is 2 years old. The domain with the lowest PR has a PR0 but it its tripadvisor.com and that sites been around for 10 years. There is quite a bit against you in reality. Not a lot of green on the matrix but not too much red...mostly yellow. What this means is that you are going to be able to rank, but its not going to happen right away. You should be able to easily get your $15 back with Adsense ads, but only if you optimize your site correctly.
I did not say that it was impossible. I said that it was not going to be an easy task. When you look at the site you beat, besides age and PR what other SEO did they have in place? I am sure that your new site is optimized to beat the ones that are not. If the OP takes the proper steps and puts the effort into his site, he can place higher than the competition. That is what its all about. What I was saying is do not expect an easy battle when you go up against a 200lb pro....he is not facing a 190lb amateur like you did.
Very nice niche domain. I'd recommend adding Amazon monetization too, and maybe even Ebay. You'll definitely make money on this one. You have the keyword in the domain. None of the top 10 competitors have that. Most of the competition is from Amazon and Tripadvisor. They are big sites, but they have 1-2 underoptimized pages for that keyword with barely any backlinks to those pages. You can overtake it with 100+ backlinks easily. If Amazon ranked in top 10 for every single product, just because its Amazon, there would be no room on the internet for anyone else. Thats not how the world works. Amazon is easy to beat with targeted sites. And you have that one.
Keywords are the first thing you must consider when starting your SEO journey. To find out what keywords customers are looking at search engines. These words are called keywords. The idea is often to use these keywords to your site and copy the source of the page. As a rule of thumb, the more often you use these keywords, you will be most relevant search engines, the more likely you are looking for these words appear.
