Hi guys, I am currently a university student and am completing an assignment on Google adwords and how 'game-like' it is. I was just wondering whether I could get some opinions on how people feel about the idea of 'quality score' and whether you believe it's a good thing or not? Any opinions you may have would be greatly appreciated, Thanks.
Quality score at a top line is good, but unfortunatly the nitty gritty of it means that it's very hard to know what is going on as there are so many factory that affect qs. It does more good than bad i would say.
"game-like"? Well, I never felt I was playing Pacman or something. QS is good. It works. It puts every advertiser on the same level playing field whether they spend $100 a month or $10,000. QS means that the little guy, if he's smarter, can outrank the big guy. Download my free PDF, it might help. Just make sure you quote me and send me a copy of the final assignment.
QS is annoying. Fortunately, all my QS is all above 6 but I didn't start out that way. There is a tangible benefit to be earned by those who excel with a high QS. Better ad position, cheaper clicks...etc are the real key factors.
Yeah, I do believe that it's game-like. I think it can be quite engrossing and addictive in some ways as you have to keep checking to see how your key words and ad groups are doing. The act of bidding itself is a form of competing against other advertisers. I'm just trying to work out whether Quality Score enhances the this game-like experience as it makes the 'game' harder by being an unknown entity and preventing cheating, or whether this introduction of these rules and regulations restrict the act of play...? All comment so far have been really helpful and I agree that QS opens up adwords to alot more people and that if mastered, can be a means of actually doing better than those who are investing alot more more money.
The best thing about quality score is that it keeps the spammers and bad ads out. If your ad is not directly related to your landing page, you will get a low quality score and thus people would then pay way too much on these spam ads. The better your quality score, the lower you Cost Per Click. I think its a good motivation for guys to optimize their ads and webpages.
QS is a very fickle, so sometimes it's like a random game... but most of the time it is a good thing that seperates good advertisments from bad
Obvioulsy everyone has different opinions however mine is that QS is a rather good and beneficial system if used correctly. When first using adwords i wasnt so fond of the QS system, though now couldnt live without it. All my campgains are 10/10 QS which as previoulsy said enables me to have lower costs than some of my bigger competitors and therefore earn a higher ROI. Theres alot of online seminar videos from google themselves that are worth watching to learn how the quality score system works and how to use it to your benefit.
