Opinions on MySpace Hoax Family?

    Hello all,

I was wanting to hear opinions on the MySpace Hoax family. There are news reports surfacing today that the family is being shunned and threatened by the neighborhood: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/12/07/national/main3587960.shtml. What are your thoughts on this? Should this family (remember this family includes children) be subject to this because of what the mother/daughter did that caused another teen to take her life?

I put this in the Politics and Religion section because I figured there were going to be STRONG opinions on this....

I think the girl's mother is to blame...wtf, you let a 13 years old kid waste her time on a crappy virtual social network where are lots of people pretending to be someone who they aren't. What did the family told the girl aniway? I didn't see that mentioned anywhere

I think its crazy.. it wasn't a right thing to do but if a person commits suicide over myspace messages it means that they're not stable.. she'd probably have committed suicide later on in life for another similar reason. :S I do think its sad that she got those mean messages, nobody should have to deal with that but suicide was her own choice.

I don't think blaming someone else for a suicide makes any sense at all and I think the girls parents needed to give her some useful "real world" outlet for her problems. I think they where inattentive at the least.
On the other hand parents should not get into the school ground politics of their children to the degree that the other mother did. She is not a child and should not behave like one.

I agree with you. The girl was emotionally unbalanced. Who cares one bit what people on Myspace say. Maybe she was too addicted to it, and took insults to the heart.

It is known as "Cyber-Relational Addiction"
IMO, the mother/daughter are not really to blame. It just happened...
