I have a domain name that is about 6 1/2 years old. It is music download related. I bought it less than a year ago from the previous owner. He had it appraised previously and it came back at an appraised value of over $17,000. I paid considerably less than that for it. Last night I happened to type it into estiBot and it spit out a figure of $110,000, based on the domain name itself and the traffic that I get, which isn't a lot. My question is twofold. First, what have your experiences been with the figures that estiBot gives? I know that it's obviously an estimate based on certain factors, but I was wondering how it compares to actual appraisals. Lastly, if it is in fact worth anywhere near to what estiBot is saying, I may consider selling it off and paying off some bills. What is the best procedure to follow for doing this, so that I get the best possible price for it? Thanks in advance for your feedback
List your domain here for appraisals and for sales in the domain sales section. Without knowing your domain name it is difficult to compare with estibot appraisal.
Thanks for your feedback. I obviously didn't expect anyone to give an appraisal without knowing the domain name, but I was looking for feedback on the figures that estiBot gives. I figured the numbers were inflated, but I do know that this domain was previously appraised legitimately at over $17,000, as I mentioned in my original post. The domain name in question is: legalmusicdownloads -dot- com I have just finished a re-design of the site, and there are still some things that are not yet functional (like the artist search function), but its a great design with a lot of potential.
the domain seems to be decent. def not what estibot says. i'd figure that it should be worth more than $xx. I like to think of estibot as a toy. Just to look domains up for fun.
I do not use estibot for its monetary value, but I think it does offer some good, quick information on a domain. I think most of the appraisals values are off and should not be used for a market value. Take it for what it is, a FREE appraisal service. If you would like a real market appraisal then I would use a paid one from a reputable appraisal service.
Anything related to music gets high appraisals in estibot. i hand registered a musical domain after seeing the estibot appraisal of $23,000 (which i made mistake) & found out to be a reg fee value.
Thanks for your input. Since it was previously professionally appraised at $17,000+, while owned by the previous owner, I have now decided to have it appraised again by Moniker. After it has been appraised, I will most likely be putting it up for sale or auction somewhere. Again, thank you for your feedback.
