I know, never ever use a background sound..., but this seems to fit this time.

Its a animal rescue website where we volunteer.

Background sounds aren't ideal.... also: where is the on and off button for the sound? Best to keep this option for your visitors... if they don't really like the noise they can shut it off.

Maybe you could get creative with the sound by selecting tunes that correspond with the featured animal. You know, like a dog named Gloria, have the song "Gloria" playing. That way, you're always changing both the sound and the pics.

I agree with the on/off button.

Good luck, and keep saving those animals!

rhamm1320: If you don't put on your site very good visible on/off button, all people will get away from your site very quick. This is very first thing which users look for after music starts. But do not use music if it's not necessary (I don't think this kind of sites needs music so).

Another point to note is that a lot of people surf the web at work and don't want to draw attention to themselves. A site with sound will often be left as soon as it is opened in these circumstances.

You should not enable the sound by default in any case, if you want the sound on your site very much then you should provide the way to control it instead.
