    Hello one and all,

I need some legal, general opinions and constructive critizism on this possible project. I have domain named siteJoint.com. Could there be a legal problem if I had it developed not as a clone, but as a sitepoint "type" site? Open to new ideas and a possible partner.

    Your help is appreciated

    Regards,

    Lisa

Be sure that it does not infringe on some one elses copyrights or graphics as that will land you in hot water very quickly!

SitePoint is a Federally registered trademark, but even if it wasn't registered, you could still face a common law infringement claim if your domain name was similar (doesn't need to be exact) and overlapped it's usage. They could certainly file a lawsuit against you if they believed you were trying to ride the goodwill they have established.
