Recently, I started pondering over the idea of creating a social niche website or video website catering to people who are involved with a particular sport. The reason this came across my mind is because the sport I am involved in, is not as popular as mainstream sports, and is actually fairly new in terms of when people first started becoming involved with it. Currently, I can only find one popular site, where mass members of this sport congregate to talk on a forum, share some videos, and share some pictures. So I was wondering: Do you think pursuing this niche is worthwhile since I can focus just on one aspect of the sport on a website (Ex. only videos)? Or do you think because this site has been the leading website for the sport for a few years now (almost 15 years, about 2500 focused members though), that it would be too difficult to establish a new member base at a new website. Just want some people's opinions, because I figured maybe I could create a niche video sharing website, or social network site catering to people particularly for the sport. But since the niche is so small and focused, perhaps it would be better to focus elsewhere. Anyways, let me know what you think! Thanks for reading!
