FYI, Opera users have been using tabbed browsing for over 7 years. Long before FF came into existence. Also note that Opera takes less memory resources when having the same number of tabs open as FF. Have your facts in line with realty please.

And even before Opera, there were many developers creating tabbed browsers with Internet Explorer in mind, i.e. AvantBrowser, WebSurface, NetCaptor and others, including NeoPlanet in its earlier 1998 version.

In addition, those who like the Mozilla platform should give a try to Netscape.

IMO, FireFox provides plugins to distract people of the fact that they are omitting many user options included in Netscape.

Avoiding get control over your surfing options is manipulation.

I used a few of those early tabbed ones. Most had a high rate of crashing. Opera was the first borwser, from those days, I used that was actually stable and fast and while not crash proof, was much more stable.

I have never tried Opera by then, although today I prefer this over the Mozilla based.

However, agree with IE browsers crashes.

The most I liked was WebSurface, because it was skinable, with plugins, sticky tabs, and something similar to those "developer tools" included with FF and Netscape, among other features.

However at every tab key pressed by mistake, it crashed... not big deal because this browser was also one of the first restoring or browsing previous stored sessions.

Another good by then, not tabbed but 4 panels at a time, was KatieSoft. No crashes with it, but "server busy" conflict when a popup came down your way while surfing

IE7 RC1 is a very good broswer. I also love Opera. FF is slow and eats RAM, I hate it.

I've never tried Opera. What's this about Firefox 2? Sounds interesting.

I would have to say, like almost everyone else, that firefox is the best one out there, tons of addons, themes and everything. I can't wait for 2.0!!

How much would you want to bet on that? :)

Opera has been shown to be faster than any other browser out there (except for Lynx)

May want to read the entire thread a bit before posting.

i dont know, supposidly opera is faster, but it crashes 10x as much, and doesnt seem to like ajax sites.

generally i had more stability on FF which makes it faster overall.

with the extensions im offered on ff my speed triples what i could do on opera at least..

if only we had mouse gestures on ff!

Not sure there. I have yet to have my Opera crash since I upgraded to V 9.0x and I consider myself a power browser. I usually have over 40 tabs open and at least 10 of them are on autorefresh. I change between tabs, use mouse gestures like mad (heck I speed browse a lot just with that feature alone) and yet Opera chugs alone merrily. I have not rebooted my machine in 2 weeks now at home and havn't closed Opera yet. With all the virus scans etc happening, I can still browse with no issues. I have not had any issues with web 2.0 pages. I visit many of them regularly. In fact as I speak, I have tabs open for technorati, youtube, myspace and Css Beauty open with no issues borwsing them.

I can tell you one thing, there is no way FF can have that many tabs open for 2 weeks straight while browsing every day. It still needs to optimise memory usage and will crash (almost a 100% guarantee there)
