open source like Facebook. How difficult to make open source..?

    Facebook isn't either.

    Facebook has an API, you might have been confused with that. If something is open source, we can all view its code and structure. If that were true, there wouldn't be such a desire for myspace clones!

    I think you're confusing open source with free. Open source means that the code it's all available to everyone and it can be customized by any developers. The tools that created Facebook or Myspace are open source: PHP, MYSQL

    Are you trying to make a Social Networking site and that to open source ?
    Well a noble thought but its very difficult considering the amount of coding.

    Also if its open source you wont get much popular as a Social Networking site as others could use your own codes!

    Well, it's still possible to start your own social networking site, but it should be niche, oriented to people with special interests, abilities or professions. So the fastest way is to take ready-made script and adjust it for your idea. The less you have to adjust the better!
