I am planning to go live with my new company site (i.e. not affiliate, or anything like that) at the beginning of September. However, the content is pretty much ready so I was wondering whether it would make sense to ALLOW Google et al in the robots file to start indexing and building authority BEFORE launch, while disallowing all other visitors? If there is going to be some kind of sandbox effect when I go live then all the more reason to go live ASAP, but I don't want human beings poking around there just yet What do people think?
So a potential user would find your site in google, click through, and be rejected somehow? I don't think it's a good idea, and can't immediately think of a way to do it if you wanted to.
