I have Joomla installed here : www.realmadrid-club.net. There is a component called OPEN SEF (SEO-SEF) Search Engine Optimization , Friendly links , however , when I turn this comp ON , it should converts the links to html friendly links , alright , it does , so when i got to the home page it works but when i select an article or section it gives me "404" Error (the page not found) , so ppl suggest that has something to do with my hataccess file , but i dunno , so can anyone tell me how to fix it ! thanks
Search OpenSEF forums. There should be a sample .htaccess file. You just nee to overwrite existing file.
The other thing to do (as is mentioned in all of the documentation): before even attempting to use OpenSEF, make sure that you have the built in SEF stuff working first. That is to say: before even installing OpenSEF, be see that you have the SEF URL code working... OpenSEF will ONLY work if the underlying SEF URL code is working, too. Heh. A little repetitive, maybe, but hopefully you get the point!
Hey guys I've found a sample file and uploaded it to my site and it seems working fine... You learn new things everyday thanks guys
Could you post the file or a link to where you found the .htaccess file? Anyone else with links to an opensef .htaccess file would be welcome as well.
Firstly, OpenSEF uses the normal Joomla .htaccess file. Secondly, you most likely need to edit the .htaccess file that comes with Joomla... unfortunately, it depends on how your server is set up, but generally you have to edit it to choose between one of two options. Edit the file, read the comments and all should be fine.
