onsite/onpage -they're the same thing; online seo isn't a term I've seen/heard anyone use. SEO breaks into 2 categories - onpage and offpage. Onpage are the things you control on your site - the technical build, the meta-tags, keyword density, headers etc. Offpage is what happens away from your site - it's all about linkbuilding.
The term on-site seo and on-page seo are all one and the same as the optimization is going to be done on your own site.

It is basically offsite SEO and not offline where you try to increase your link popularity and improve the number of backlinks to your site. offsite SEO is a long term process.
