I have a question regarding onsite seo.

I have learned the importance of bolding, italicyzing, and underlining words.
I wonder what gives the best result when it comes to ranking in Gooogle,
doing all 3 tasks on one word or
1 of the tasks on 3 words?

Also how many times during an article on ex. 350 words should this be done, only one time?

I hope my question make sense.

Well it does not have much effect. I guess bolding has the most effect. Be careful not to bold your main keyword more than 2 times

I almost never use bold/italics/underlining unless it's in a place that I would do it if I were writing a book like when I'm giving a definition of a word. I think it makes the page look "cheap". Too many people who know a little about SEO will abuse this technique by highlighting every occurence on the page of keywords they are trying to make the page rank for. Looks terrible IMO and carries very little weight. More than 1 or 2 bolded words in the content of the page and I instantly think, "SEO footprint!" ESPECIALLY if the words bolded are in the <title>.

    But that's just me...

I concur. If people are going to go ahead with this practice, they might want to make sure their site's style makes the 'bolded' words look unbolded.

Write for people, and not for search engines. Focus more on building quality content and links instead of getting into such tactics.

Making your text bold will make it easier for your users to pickup on important things on your website. I agree 100% with mixke above. Write for people and not for search engines.

It can be done so that the typography appears natural.

Look at http://www.gatewayalpacas.com/ for an example of how these elements can be used to emphasize keywords, both for the visitor and the robots...

You have to care about your Keywords, Meta Tag, Meta Description & Title. You have to make sure all these are properly set. Then you have to get backlinks from your niche related sites. That will bring you more PR as well as good SERP too.... :) Best of luck.

Focus more on picking good keywords, having good titles, writing good content and gettting decent backlinks then worry about what words to bold. The bolding will have little effect.

onpage optimization hardly have 20% effect on SERP ranking. Instead of bolding. underline, itallic the words, it is more important to build backlinks for these pages. However, try not to overdo the bold/underline/itallic. IMO, 1-2% from the article will do.

it doesnt matter its not the way to optimize a page other onsite activities needs to be considered use ur targeted keywords in H1 tag, alt tags in content link those keywords to related pages of your site this is how you have to approach onpage optimization...
